A key element to making a film is pre-production, shynola a production company is currently in pre production for a film they are making based on a novel they have the rights for called "The RedMen". Prevous projects shynola has been involved with include Hitchhickers Guide To The Galaxy and music videos for Coldpay and Radiohead.
They have a blog that is currently tracking their progress on the film they are making, when asked how they get their projects started they said  "Explaining how exactly we get our project off the ground, all I can say is - watch this space - as we haven't started yet". They further explain that "all our work (commercial) comes to us, we do not seek it." This is different however when they have to write a script because they are the directors for the film/video, they have to "live off the money in our company account while we write our script" after this they will send the draft script out to their contact in the UK and US. Production companies they have contacts with are  Ridley Scott's and Francis Ford Coppola's film production companies.
Unforunatlely after the got the draft script out to their contact they explained this : -
 "Currently the project is on complete hold. Not dead, just frozen. Firstly we had meetings with agents and some small studios whose mutual response to our first draft was fascinated enthusiasm mixed with critical damnation. Quite possibly with good cause we've concluded. We've taken an incredibly complex story and made a far more digestible script, yet it seems that this is still far too complex and we need to pare it down further. Which we'll mean some tough decisions". This just shows how tough it is to get recognised in the film industry, and that a lot of funding is required to get a projects foot off the ground. Recently though they said this
"We're closer in the sense that, presuming that we will get funding one day, we are forever moving through time. Otherwise no, no closer.
In actuality, we haven't asked anyone to fund it yet. We've merely being looking for someone who will ask for the funding on our behalf. The good news is we've found those people and we like them a lot. So the ball is rolling." so hopefully somthing will come of this project however for the time being they cannot aqquire funding at the moment.
