The film Kidulthood features a soundtrack that plays from the start of the film, the characters are talking over the soundtrack however so it is classed as non-diegetic sound. The opening shot is showing the audience the setting and sets the mood this is called a establishing shot. A close up of a football with a person with school trousers on this shows the audience that it is at a school. The shots after are fast paced which could be a bit disorientating for some people.
The next scene shows somebody using a pillar drill, close ups of the person and the drill to make the audience question why they are using the drill this is repeated after the next scene. The scene then jump cuts to two girls in the playground are gossiping about others in the playground the shot used is the two shot, this makes them the main part of the action and centres the camera on them.
180 degree shots are used in the playground to change to different students and continue on the scenes, this create the effect of a busy playground with a variety of people on it. The scene after this is set in a classroom with Katie being assaulted by another girl, low key lighting is used to build up the tension within the classroom. A close up shot of the girl assaulting Katie this shows the intimidation that Katie is feeling from the girl who attacked her and shows just how angry she looks.
