Extras - Fran who has cerbal palsy



Fran is shown in a funny light and one of the characters doesnt realise she is disabled. She think that she is mad and doesnt understand that she suffers from cerbal palsy. I think the way this is represented shows the audience that you can make a joke out of disability if that person is actually disabled then it is acceptable.
Forrest Gump



Forrest is represented as a mentally retarded male who is frequently made fun of by others. However when everyone realised that he can run they give him more respect. They still take advantage of the fact that he isnt very smart, so I think because it is meant to be a comedy it is not meant to be taken seriously. And Forrest was played by someone who was not disabled., but this could be offensive to some people.
